J-J-Jump is a vertical platformer from Nitrome built around a single threat: a wall of water rising up the screen behind you. You guide a small hero up a tower of platforms, climbing ahead of the flood rather than exploring at your own pace — stop moving for too long and the water catches up.
The twist is the jump limit. You only get five jumps before you have to land on solid ground or grab a juice pickup to refill the count, so careless double- and triple-jumping in open air can strand you mid-climb with the water closing in. Across 10 levels, checkpoints reset your jump total, springs launch you up in one bounce, switches move blocks out of your path, and hazards like tar and black flame patches, plus enemies such as spiders and flies you can stomp from above, get added to the mix as you go. Later levels bring crusher blocks and cannons into the platforming.
Controls
- Left / Right arrow keys — move
- Up arrow — jump
Tips
- Land on a platform between jumps when you can — it resets your jump count, while chaining jumps in mid-air burns through your five fast.
- Grab juice pickups on sight; they refill jumps just like a checkpoint does.
- Jump on spiders and flies from above to clear them instead of routing around — it's faster and safer with the water rising.
- Use springs when the flood is close behind — one bounce covers more height than a jump chain and costs no jumps.
It's a short, tense platformer that suits quick sessions — the kind of game where a single level rarely takes more than a couple of minutes, win or drown.
