Onion Boy is a browser platformer starring a small onion who runs, jumps, and shoots through fifteen stages spread across six themed zones — Crab Island, Dark Mountain, Desert Hill, Green Forest, Green Jungle, and Sky Mountain. Each zone has its own look and its own run of levels before the game moves you on to the next.
Every stage runs against a countdown timer and a limited number of lives, so a level ends early if either one runs out. Along the way you pick up coins, gold, and stars, and the game keeps a personal best score and time for each stage, with a leaderboard to compare against.
Controls
- Move, jump, and fire using the on-screen touch buttons on a phone or tablet, or the equivalent keyboard controls on desktop
- A connected gamepad also works
Tips
- The clock is as dangerous as the enemies — if a stage is going badly, head for the exit instead of chasing every coin on your first run
- Shots appear to be limited per stage, so fire at real threats rather than spraying on sight
- Since your best score and time are saved per level, a finished stage is worth a second run if you think you can beat your own number
With fifteen short stages and a scoring layer built on top of straightforward platforming, it suits players who like quick levels they can replay to shave down their own time.
