Tips

• Start with the obvious: Scan for rows, columns, or 3x3 grids that already have five or more numbers filled in. These restricted areas have fewer remaining possibilities and are the easiest places to find a guaranteed placement.
• Cross-hatching: Pick a single number (like 1) and scan the entire board. Look for a 3x3 box that is missing that number, then trace the intersecting rows and columns from boxes to eliminate impossible squares.
