Happy Wheels is a side-scrolling, physics-based obstacle course game where survival is far from guaranteed. Players choose from a roster of unique, highly vulnerable characters—like an old man in a rocket-powered wheelchair or a father taking his son on a precarious bicycle ride—and attempt to guide them through chaotic levels filled with deadly hazards.
Every level is a gauntlet of spikes, landmines, wrecking balls, and gravity-defying drops. The game is famous for its exaggerated, ragdoll-driven damage system, meaning even minor mistakes can result in cartoonish amputations and crashes. Reaching the finish line requires patience, timing, and a willingness to see your character suffer numerous hilarious setbacks along the way.
Controls
- Accelerate / Reverse: Use the Up and Down arrow keys.
- Lean Forward / Backward: Use the Right and Left arrow keys to keep your balance.
- Special Action: Press the Spacebar to trigger character-specific abilities like jumping, boosting, or braking.
- Secondary Action: Use Shift or Control for extra character abilities.
- Eject: Press Z to eject from your vehicle. You can still crawl or slide toward the goal after ejecting.
Tips
- Control your rotation: Whenever you launch off a ramp, immediately use the left and right arrow keys to level your vehicle. Landing flat on your wheels is essential to avoid flipping over and crashing.
- Eject to survive: If your vehicle becomes wedged in a trap or you are unable to climb a steep ledge, try ejecting by pressing Z. A dismounted character can still drag themselves across the finish line to complete the level.
- Study the traps: Many obstacles are triggered by proximity or pressure plates. Approach unfamiliar areas slowly to trigger traps safely, then time your dash to slide past them.
