In Murder, you start as a scheming assassin creeping quietly behind an unsuspecting king. Your singular goal is to eliminate him and claim the crown for yourself, but the monarch is paranoid and constantly looking over his shoulder. You must carefully time your approach, raising your knife when his back is turned and freezing the moment he glances back. If he catches you mid-strike, it is a swift trip to the dungeon and game over.
Once you successfully assassinate the king, the game flips the script. Now you wear the crown, and it is your turn to walk the castle halls while an endless line of quirky assassins tries to do exactly what you just did. You will have to rely on quick reflexes to catch them in the act, sending them to the dungeon before they can steal your throne. The loop is short, hilarious, and demands perfect timing to survive until your character can peacefully die of old age.
Controls
The game relies entirely on a single button, making it easy to learn but hard to master:
- Spacebar: Hold to charge your attack as the assassin. When playing as the king, press Spacebar to quickly look behind you and catch would-be killers.
Tips
- Watch the king's eyes: Before the king turns around, his eyes usually dart backward. Use this visual cue to drop your knife just in time.
- Do not hold it too long: The attack takes a second to fully charge. It is safer to release the button and try again rather than risk getting caught.
- Learn the patterns: As the king, characters like the jester or the butler will try to kill you in unpredictable ways. Watch their unique animations so you know exactly when to turn around.
