About Return Portal

Return Portal is a puzzle platformer built around a single trick: you carry a teleporter, not a jetpack or a grapple. Drop it in the right spot and you can warp back to it a moment later, which turns gaps, moving walls and out-of-reach ledges into something you place your way through instead of jumping your way past.

Each level is small and self-contained — collect the key (or keys) needed to unlock the exit gate, then work out where the teleporter actually needs to sit before you commit to it. Nothing here is twitchy; the challenge is almost entirely in reading the layout and timing your placement, which makes it more of a "stop and think" game than a reflex one.

Controls

  • A or Left Arrow — move left
  • D or Right Arrow — move right
  • W or Up Arrow — jump
  • Spacebar or X — place the teleporter, or teleport back to it
  • R — restart the level

Tips

  • Place the teleporter before you commit to a risky jump, not mid-air — it's your safety net as much as your traversal tool.
  • Some obstacles (moving walls, holes) only make sense once you picture teleporting through or out of them, not around them.
  • If a level feels impossible, restart with R and re-read the layout — the intended solution is almost always about placement order, not speed.

A good fit if you like slower, puzzle-first platformers where dying just means a quick restart rather than losing real progress.

Return Portal FAQ

How does the teleporter work in Return Portal?
Press Spacebar or X to drop the teleporter at your current spot. Press the same key again to warp back to it, letting you get past gaps, holes and moving walls you couldn't reach by jumping alone.
What are the controls?
A or the Left Arrow moves left, D or the Right Arrow moves right, W or the Up Arrow jumps, Spacebar or X places or triggers the teleporter, and R restarts the level.
Can I play Return Portal on mobile?
Yes, it runs in a browser on desktop, phone and tablet.
What happens if I get stuck on a level?
Press R to restart it instantly. Levels are short, so replaying one to test a different teleporter spot costs almost no time.
