About Speed Stars

Speed Stars is a running game by developer Luke, played from a side-on view as your athlete sprints down a track. Instead of one "run" button, you alternate two keys to drive each leg forward — mistime it and your runner leans and slows down rather than accelerating.

Races are timed sprints against players rather than a fixed AI field, so times get compared on a global leaderboard as much as any single race. The skill is less about button-mashing speed and more about rhythm: keep alternating cleanly and your runner holds top speed, hold one key too long and you stumble.

Controls

  • Run left leg: A or Left Arrow
  • Run right leg: D or Right Arrow

Alternate the two keys evenly — that's the whole control scheme, for both running and balance.

Tips

  • Even, steady alternation beats mashing both keys as fast as possible — an uneven rhythm makes your runner lean and lose speed.
  • Watch your runner's posture, not just the timer — leaning forward too far is the sign you're about to slow down before it shows up in your split time.

It suits players who like quick, replayable score-chasing sessions over a longer campaign.

Speed Stars FAQ

What are the controls for Speed Stars?
Use A/Left Arrow and D/Right Arrow, alternating between the two to make your runner's legs move. The same two keys also control balance.
Why does my runner slow down?
Holding one key too long or mashing both keys unevenly makes your runner lean forward and lose speed — steady alternation keeps top speed.
Do I race against real people or the computer?
Speed Stars compares your run against other players' times, so races function more like a shared leaderboard than a fixed AI field.
Can I play Speed Stars on mobile?
Speed Stars is playable on desktop, phone, and tablet.
