Swing Monkey tests your timing and momentum as you launch a bouncy ape through an endless forest. The gameplay is stripped down to a single interaction: shoot a rope to grab the nearest anchor point and swing forward. Your goal is to cover as much distance as possible by chaining these swings together, maintaining your speed without plunging off the bottom of the screen.
The physics are forgiving but carrying momentum across long gaps requires a solid rhythm. Every anchor point behaves like a pendulum, meaning the angle at which you release your rope determines your trajectory. As the anchor points get further apart and arranged at awkward heights, the simple mechanics suddenly require sharp reflexes to keep the monkey airborne.
Controls
- Click and Hold (or Touch and Hold): Fire a rope and grab the nearest anchor point to begin swinging.
- Release: Let go of the rope to launch your monkey forward.
Tips
- Release at the upward arc: Letting go just before the monkey reaches the highest point of the forward swing maximizes your horizontal distance.
- Use short ropes to build speed: If you attach when you are very close to the anchor point, your swing will be tight and fast, which is great for recovering lost momentum.
- Don't hold on too long: Swinging past the center point and starting to move backwards will completely kill your speed and result in a vertical drop when you release.
