About Down The Hill

Down The Hill is a fast-paced, grid-based survival game that challenges players to navigate a blocky character down an endless, hazard-filled mountainside. With every step you take, the grid ahead dynamically generates new dangers, forcing you to think rapidly and choose your path carefully. The pressure intensifies as the screen steadily scrolls down from the top, threatening to crush any player who hesitates too long.

Every jump presents a choice: do you hop left or right onto the next platform? A single misstep can land you on sharp spikes, trigger an explosive TNT crate, or plunge you straight into a pool of molten lava. Along the way, collecting gold coins allows you to unlock a variety of blocky, pixelated characters in the main menu, giving you a fresh look for your next descent.

Controls

  • Left Arrow Key / A Key: Jump diagonally left.
  • Right Arrow Key / D Key: Jump diagonally right.
  • Tap Left / Right Screen (Mobile): Tap the corresponding side of the screen to hop in that direction.

Gameplay Tips

  • Stay Two Steps Ahead: Avoid scanning only the immediate blocks. Always look ahead at the next two rows to map out a safe path and avoid landing directly onto spikes or lava.
  • Use TNT to Clear Paths: Stepping on a TNT block starts a short countdown timer. Hop off immediately to avoid the blast, which will destroy neighboring obstacles and clear the path ahead.
  • Prioritize Survival Over Coins: While gold coins are tempting for unlocking cosmetic characters, going out of your way to collect them often leads to a quick game over. Only collect coins when the route is safe.
