Fortz is a two-player artillery duel, not a building-and-shooting battle royale — you and a friend share one keyboard and try to blast each 's fort off the map. Each side controls a turret sitting behind a wall of blocks: aim, fire, and land a hit before the player levels your position first.
Rounds are short and physics-driven. You move your turret along the ground, adjust the aim, and squeeze off a shot, watching the projectile arc across the level toward the enemy base. Ammo isn't infinite, so a big part of the duel is reloading at the right moment instead of the wrong one, and dropping a block to patch a gap in your own wall before the next incoming shot finds it.
Controls
Fortz is designed for two people on the same screen, each with their own half of the keyboard.
- Player 1: W, A, D to move; W and S to aim the turret; D to shoot; S to place a block.
- Player 2: Up, Left and Right arrows to move; Up and Down arrows to aim the turret; Left arrow to shoot; Down arrow to place a block.
Tips
- Reload often — an empty turret won't fire, and forgetting to reload mid-duel is the easiest way to lose a round you were winning.
- Placing a block isn't just defense: a well-timed wall can force your opponent's shot to fall short or block their line of sight entirely.
- The level select screen has multiple block layouts — a level built for sniping across open space plays very differently from one with a maze of walls between the forts.
Fortz suits a shared-screen, one-on-one session more than a solo one — it's built to settle an argument between two players sitting at the same computer, with a level editor available if the built-in maps aren't enough.
