Level Devil is a brutal, comedic platformer designed specifically to troll you. Your goal is simply to reach the door at the end of each stage, but the game actively changes the rules as you play. Floors vanish without warning, ceilings crush you, platforms speed away as you jump, and spikes appear out of thin air. It is a game of trial, error, and memory, where your first instinct is usually the one that gets you killed.
A typical session consists of dying repeatedly to invisible traps until you memorize the exact sequence of lies the level is telling you. The respawns are instant, keeping the pace fast and the frustration manageable. As you progress, the tricks become more elaborate, sometimes even reversing your controls or rotating the screen, turning simple jumps into tests of patience and paranoia.
Controls
- Move: WASD or Arrow Keys
- Jump: Spacebar, Up Arrow, or W
Tips
- Expect the unexpected: If a jump looks too easy, it is a trap. Approach obvious paths with extreme caution.
- Bait the traps: Often, the safest way to find out what a level will do is to walk slightly forward to trigger a trap, then quickly back away before you die.
- Memorize the chaos: You will not beat a level on your first try. Focus on learning where the traps trigger so you can anticipate them on your next life.
Level Devil is perfect for players who enjoy difficult rage games and get a laugh out of an environment actively trying to outsmart them.
