About Plant vs Zombies

Plant vs Zombies takes the traditional tower defense formula and moves it to the front lawn. Instead of building static towers along a winding path, you are defending a grid of lanes against waves of undead intruders. Your primary resource is sunlight, which falls from the sky and is generated by planting Sunflowers. You must balance your early game economy with building enough defenses to survive the initial trickle of zombies.

As you progress through the levels, the zombie variants become tougher and more specialized, introducing pole vaulters, screen door shielders, and football players. To counter them, you unlock an expanding arsenal of plants, from simple Peashooters and explosive Cherry Bombs to defensive Wall-nuts. Choosing the right seed packets for each level's specific threats is the key to surviving the final massive waves.

Controls

  • Mouse: Click to collect sun, select seed packets, and place plants on the grid.
  • Shovel: Click the shovel icon, then click a plant to dig it up and free the space.

Tips

  • Plant at least two columns of Sunflowers at the back of the lawn early on to ensure you have enough sun for expensive late-game defenses.
  • Use Wall-nuts to stall zombies while your Peashooters whittle down their health, giving you more time to collect sun.
  • Save your Cherry Bombs and Potato Mines for emergencies when a tough zombie breaks through your frontline.

Plant vs Zombies FAQ

How do you collect sun in Plant vs Zombies?
Sunlight periodically falls from the sky during daytime levels. You can also plant Sunflowers, which generate additional sun over time. Click on the sun icons to collect them and spend them on defenses.
How do I remove a plant I placed by mistake?
Click the shovel icon at the top of the screen, then click on the plant you want to remove. Digging up a plant frees the space but does not refund the sun you spent on it.
What happens if a zombie reaches the left side of the screen?
If a zombie makes it past your defenses, a lawnmower will clear that entire lane. If another zombie reaches the end of that same lane later, you will lose the game.
