Bubble Shooter Classic Game

Bubble Shooter Classic goes back to Puzzle Bobble, the 1994 Taito arcade game that started the whole bubble-popping genre, and this version keeps the formula stripped down to the part that made it stick: aim, fire, watch the cluster fall apart. A cannon at the bottom of the screen fires colored bubbles up into a shrinking wall of them, and any group of three or more matching colors you connect pops and drops everything hanging below it.

There's no story and no timer pushing you — just a board that keeps creeping down toward a line at the bottom. Miss too often and the wall reaches it before you clear a path through. The skill is in reading ahead: bank a shot off the side walls to reach an awkward color, or find the one bubble holding up a big cluster and take it out to chain a bigger pop than the three-in-a-row minimum.

• Desktop: move the mouse to aim, left-click to fire
• Mobile: tap where you want to shoot

Tips

• Look for a single bubble propping up a whole hanging cluster — popping it drops the entire group at once for a much bigger score than a plain three-match.
• Bank shots off the left and right walls when the color you need is boxed in behind bubbles.
• Clear from the edges of the board inward rather than poking at the middle — it keeps the wall from creeping down unevenly.

It's a pick-up-and-play game suited to short sessions — a few minutes between things, or longer if you're chasing a high score.
