Cat Trap takes a straightforward concept and turns it into a surprisingly tricky game of cat and mouse. You are presented with a hexagonal board where a single black cat stands in the center, eager to make a break for the border. Your job is to drop darkened barrier tiles to box it in, but there is a catch: every time you place a wall, the cat takes one step closer to freedom. If it touches any of the outer edge tiles, the game is over.
The hexagonal layout means the cat always has up to six possible directions to move. Because you can only place one tile per turn, chasing the cat directly almost never works. Instead, you have to play the long game, building a wide perimeter and slowly constricting the available space until there are no exits left.
Controls
- Mouse / Touch: Click or tap on any light green hexagon to turn it into an impassable dark barrier.
Tips
- Build a Wide Net: Do not just click directly next to the cat. Look at which edge it is heading toward and start building a wall several spaces ahead to cut off its momentum.
- Use Pre-Existing Walls: Every round starts with a few random barriers already on the board. Incorporate them into your trap to save precious turns.
- Force Direction Changes: If you place a block directly in the cat's path, it will swerve. Use this predictability to guide it into a corner you have already built.
