Portrait Of An Obsession is a horror point-and-click adventure from FM Studio, told as a spinoff story inside their long-running Forgotten Hill universe. You play someone chasing a rumored painting that may be cursed, and the search pulls you into a decaying, grotesque world that clearly does not want you looking at it too closely.
The pace is slow and deliberate: examine rooms for anything clickable, pick up items into your inventory, and figure out what they open, unlock, or trigger elsewhere. Progress comes from logic, not reflexes, and a hint system is there for the puzzles that stall you out. The dread builds through atmosphere and imagery rather than jump-scare timing.
Controls
Everything is mouse-driven: click on items and hotspots to examine or collect them, click inventory items to use them on the environment, and click through dialogue and menus.
Tips
- Click around every screen fully before moving on — Forgotten Hill puzzles hide interactive spots in plain sight.
- Carry items rather than discarding assumptions about their use; many only make sense several screens later.
- Use the hint feature rather than guessing blindly when a puzzle stalls, it keeps the pacing intact.
It suits players who already like slow-burn horror adventures such as the rest of the Forgotten Hill series, more atmosphere and inventory logic than action.
