Skywire 2 is Nitrome's sequel to their cable-car game Skywire, running here as an HTML5 port of the original Flash release. You control a gondola gliding along a zigzag wire, carrying three passengers to the station at the end of each track while a menagerie of robotic animals tries to knock them off along the way.
The car only speeds up or slows down — steering happens by timing your acceleration against dips, loops and rising sections in the track. Ostriches, camels, parrots, rhinos and stranger machines swoop or charge in from the sides, and every hit can send a passenger tumbling off for good. Reach the end with at least one passenger still aboard and you clear the stage; your score is built from how much of your limited time was left over, multiplied by how many passengers made it.
Controls
- Up / Down arrow keys or W / S — accelerate forward or brake
- Two-player mode splits the same track between arrow keys and W/S so you can race a friend on one keyboard
Tips
- Score rewards finishing fast as much as finishing safely — time keeps draining even when you're being careful, so don't crawl through the easy stretches.
- A hit doesn't always end the run, but it costs a passenger — with only three aboard, a couple of bad hits can leave you with nothing to deliver even if you reach the station.
- The track has three boss stretches that break from the usual pattern of enemies — the goal there is still to get past them, not fight them, so keep your momentum rather than trying to dodge in place.
