Snake 3D takes the familiar apple-eating snake and gives it two ways to play: the original 2D Google Snake, embedded exactly as it is, and a reimagined 3D version where the whole board sits on a floating island in the sky. You can switch between the two at any time from the same menu, so it's really two takes on one game rather than a single mode stretched thin.
The core rules stay the same — steer, eat, don't hit anything — but there's a lot to unlock underneath that simplicity. Chaining apples quickly builds a combo that raises the eating sound's pitch and triggers a sparkle "fever" effect once you're a few bites deep, and eating enough apples over time unlocks new snake skins, board tile colors, and scenery themes to play with.
Modes
Twelve modes are available: Classic, Wall, Portal, Cheese, Borderless, Twin, Yin-Yang, Key, Sokoban, Poison, Stones, and Blender. Each changes a rule rather than just the skin — Portal wraps you through openings, Yin-Yang mirrors a second snake on the opposite side of the board, Key makes you find a key before apples unlock, and Sokoban has you push blocks instead of just dodging them.
Controls
Arrow keys or WASD on desktop, swipe on touchscreens. Either way, the input is the same simple four-direction steering the whole game is built around.
Unlocks
- 37 snake skins, from solid colors to rainbow, gradient, and Google-themed styles, unlocking gradually as your total apple count climbs.
- 6 board tile color palettes and 8 full scenery themes — including a cherry-blossom Sakura setting and a lava-toned Ember one — that recolor the entire 3D scene, not just the board.
