Speed King Game

Speed King is a fast-paced, grid-based puzzle platformer developed by Mathias Elgaard and Martin Magni within the Fancade universe. In this blocky, retro-style challenge, you take control of the titular Speed King—a quick-moving block character wearing a crown. Your objective in each of the game's 100 levels is to dash through the maze, smash every wooden crate to unlock the exit door, and collect the gold treasure waiting on the side.

The core mechanic of Speed King revolves around momentum and restrictive grid movement. When you swipe or press a direction key, the King dashes instantly in that direction and will not stop until he collides with a wall or obstacle. Crucially, you can only change directions or initiate a new dash when you are safely resting against a wall or in a corner. This makes every move a tactical decision, as one wrong turn can send you sliding straight into spikes, moving hazard balls, or shooting laser cannons.

Controls

You can control the Speed King using either keyboard controls or mouse dragging:

• Arrow Keys / WASD Keys: Press Up, Down, Left, or Right to dash the King in that direction.
• Mouse: Click and drag in the direction you want the King to move.

Tips for Success

• Plan your route beforehand: Since you cannot stop mid-dash and can only make turns when you hit a solid object, visualize your path through the level before taking your first step.
• Manipulate hazard movements: Many spike balls and enemies move in response to your movement. Use walls to pause, reposition, and bait obstacles out of your way.
• Crush crates systematically: Avoid rushing to get the closest crate if it leaves you in a corner with no safe exit. Clear the outer edges of the room first to keep your escape routes open.
