TicTacToe, from developer Playtouch, is the classic pencil-and-paper game brought to a 3x3 grid on screen: two players alternate placing an X or an O, and whoever lines up three of their own mark in a row, column, or diagonal first wins.

You can play solo against the computer or hand the device to a friend for a pass-and-play match. Rounds are short, usually a minute or less, which makes it a good fit for quick back-to-back games rather than one long session — the appeal is reading your opponent's next move, not building anything over time.

Tips

• Take the center square first if it's open — it sits on more possible winning lines than any square.
• If the center is taken, go for a corner rather than an edge; corners also cover more winning lines.
• Before placing your own mark, check whether your opponent already has two in a row somewhere — blocking a loss matters more than chasing a win.
• Played without mistakes on both sides, tic-tac-toe always ends in a draw, so most wins come from the player slipping up, not from a hidden trick.

It's best treated as a fast filler between games rather than a destination on its own, and it runs straight in the browser with nothing to install.
