About Descent

Descent is a short-session arcade game from Sakkat Studio, unrelated to the 1990s PC space shooter of the same name. Here you're clipped to a rope and sent down a rock face, swinging from side to side as the camera pulls you steadily downward and the drop gets faster and more cramped the further you go.

Each level is a race against the wall: tap to swing your line and steer past spikes and jagged rock jutting out from the cliff, grab coins along the way, and reach the bottom in one piece. Clip an obstacle and the run ends there, so most of the skill is in reading the wall a beat ahead and timing your swing rather than reacting at the last second.

Controls

  • Tap or click: Swing your rope to the side

Tips

  • Watch the wall a little above your character rather than right next to them — spikes appear with just enough warning to react if you're looking ahead.
  • Swinging early and holding a line is usually safer than a last-second tap, since the rope needs a moment to change direction.
  • Coins are worth grabbing when they're on your existing path, but not worth a risky detour that puts you next to an obstacle.

It's built for quick, replayable runs rather than one long session — a level takes well under a minute, which makes it easy to squeeze in a few attempts and chase a cleaner run each time.

Descent FAQ

What is the goal in Descent?
Swing your rope from side to side to steer past spikes and rock on the way down, and reach the bottom of the level without clipping an obstacle.
How do you control Descent?
Tap or click to swing your rope to the side — that's the whole control scheme, so the challenge is in timing rather than a complex input.
Can I play Descent on mobile?
Yes, the tap-based controls work the same way on a touchscreen as they do with a mouse click on desktop.
Is Descent related to the 1995 PC game of the same name?
No, this is a separate, unrelated arcade game made by Sakkat Studio — it just happens to share the title.
