Johnny Upgrade Game

Johnny Upgrade is a retro-style platformer that strips away all your basic abilities right from the start. You begin the game with no speed, no jump height, and a timer that ends your run in seconds. The goal is to collect as many coins as possible before time runs out, slowly earning enough cash to buy back your skills.

The core of the game is entirely based around the upgrade loop. Each short session lets you push slightly further into the massive, single level as you improve Johnny's stats. Purchasing time extensions, movement speed, and coin multipliers transforms a seemingly impossible map into a fast-paced treasure hunt. Eventually, you unlock weapons and a jetpack to reach the final boss.

Controls

You can use standard movement keys to navigate. Keep in mind that actions like jumping or shooting must be purchased before they work.

• Jump: Up Arrow, W, or Spacebar
• Shoot: Spacebar or X (once unlocked)

Tips for Upgrading

• Focus on the Timer: Your very first purchases should go into extending the time limit. Moving fast does not help if you run out of seconds right after spawning.
• Prioritize the Multiplier: Earning the coin multiplier early makes every subsequent run much more profitable, cutting down the grind for expensive late-game items.
• Learn the Layout: Since there is only one large level, memorize the best coin clusters near the starting area to maximize your early runs.
