About Short Life

Short Life is a physics-based platformer where the only goal is to keep a remarkably fragile hero in one piece. Every level is a gauntlet of saw blades, hidden landmines, and swinging pendulums designed to reduce your character to a bloody mess. The physics are intentionally floaty and awkward, turning simple actions like walking down stairs or hopping over a gap into a precarious balancing act.

Even if you lose an arm or a leg to a stray arrow, you can still crawl your way to the finish line. Surviving with all your limbs intact requires careful timing and an understanding of the game's brutal momentum. It's a game of trial, error, and dark slapstick comedy.

Controls

  • Right/Left Arrows or A/D: Move forward and backward
  • Up Arrow or W: Jump
  • Down Arrow or S: Crouch or crawl

Tips

Take it slow

Unlike most platformers, speed is usually fatal here. Walk carefully until you know exactly how an obstacle behaves.

Mind the ceiling

Many hazards fall from above. Watch out for subtle triggers on the ground that might drop a spiked barrel on your head.

You can crawl to victory

If you're badly injured but still alive, use the crouch key to drag yourself toward the end of the level. A win is a win, even if you're missing half your body.

Short Life FAQ

How do you crawl in Short Life?
Press and hold the Down Arrow or S key to crouch. If you keep holding it while moving, your character will crawl, which is essential for sneaking under low saw blades and arrows.
Can I finish a level if my character is injured?
Yes, as long as your character's head is still intact, you can continue moving. Losing arms or legs will severely limit your mobility, but you can still crawl to the finish line.
Who created Short Life?
Short Life was developed by GameTornado, a studio known for creating physics-based ragdoll games with a dark sense of humor.
