About Yokai Dungeon

Yokai Dungeon flips the classic dungeon crawler on its head by turning the environment itself into your primary weapon. Set in a charming pixel-art world inspired by Japanese folklore, you play as a tanuki raccoon tasked with resealing mischievous spirits. However, you are completely unarmed. To survive, you must navigate grid-based rooms and shove blocks, stone lanterns, and heavy obstacles into enemies to squish them flat.

The pace relies heavily on movement and spatial awareness. Rooms are randomly generated, so every run presents a fresh puzzle of positioning and timing. You have to line up your pushes carefully, as enemies move unpredictably and can easily corner you if you are not paying attention. Along the way, you collect coins dropped by defeated yokai, which can be spent to unlock a wide roster of new heroes with different movement speeds and block-pushing abilities.

Controls

  • Move: Use the Arrow Keys or WASD to navigate the dungeon grid.
  • Push: Press the Spacebar or Enter while facing an object to slide it across the floor.

Tips

  • Line Them Up: A pushed block will keep sliding until it hits a wall or another solid object. Try to corral multiple enemies into a single row to crush them all at once for bonus coins.
  • Watch Your Step: It is easy to accidentally box yourself into a corner. Always make sure you have an escape route before pushing a block that seals off a corridor.
  • Use the Environment: Some rooms have hazards or specific layouts that you can use to your advantage. Wait for enemies to wander into narrow paths before sending a block their way.
