City Takeover is a casual strategy game about population, not firepower. The map is a grid of buildings connected by lines, and every building you control slowly fills up with your people. Drag a line from one of your buildings to a neighboring one to send your population across and start converting it — do the same to an empty or enemy building and, given enough time and troops, it flips to your side.
The catch is that your opponents are doing the exact same thing to you. A round becomes a race to spread outward faster than the enemy can push back, and shape matters as much as speed: some buildings on the map are round, others triangular, and each has its own effect once you own it.
Controls
Drag with the left mouse button from a building you control to the one you want to connect to. Release to send your population down that line.
Tips
- Grab as many buildings as you can in the opening seconds — early population growth compounds, and it's much harder to catch up once an opponent has more buildings feeding into their army.
- Circular buildings heal connected allies faster, while triangular buildings hit harder when attacking — route your lines with that in mind instead of just grabbing the nearest target.
- Watching an ad to briefly freeze an opponent's clock is available on tougher rounds if a push is about to overwhelm you.
City Takeover plays in short bursts, so it suits a quick round between things as much as a longer session working through its levels.
