Flakmeister is a first-person tower-defense shooter from developer Borington. You man a heavy flak cannon on the edge of a small factory town and hold off wave after wave of enemy bombers and fighters trying to level it, playing as part of a losing Imperial Silver Army trying to buy the town more time.
The core loop is straightforward but tense: track incoming aircraft, shoot them down before their bombs land, and spend what you earn between waves on upgrades for your gun and special abilities. There are 24 levels split across three difficulty settings, so the pace and pressure ramp up considerably from the early game to the late levels.
Controls
Shoot with the left or right mouse button, or the 1/2 keys. Use QWERASDF to trigger your special abilities. In the upgrade menu, left-click to install an upgrade and right-click to uninstall one.
Tips
- Prioritize bombers over fighters when both are on screen — a bomber that reaches the town does far more damage than a fighter strafing past.
- Check the upgrade menu between waves rather than only after a level ends; a gun upgrade installed early pays off for the rest of that level.
It suits players who like a defense game with real aim requirements rather than pure auto-targeting, played in short, level-by-level sessions.
