About Particle Clicker

Particle Clicker is an incremental game built during CERN's Webfest 2014, borrowing its core loop from Cookie Clicker but reskinning it around particle physics: instead of baking cookies, you're running a detector and building up a physics lab. Clicking generates currency, and that currency buys the staff and upgrades that keep production running even when you're not clicking.

The pacing is classic idle-game: active clicking gets you started, but the real progress comes from spending what you earn on hiring staff, buying upgrades, and researching new detectors, then checking back as numbers climb on their own.

Controls

  • Left mouse button — click the detector to generate currency
  • Left mouse button — spend currency on hiring staff, upgrades, and research from the menus

Tips

  • Hire staff early so currency keeps coming in while you're not actively clicking — manual clicking alone caps out fast.
  • Research spends a separate currency (reputation) from upgrades, so save it for unlocking new detectors rather than spending it like regular money.
  • Use the game's own save option regularly so a closed tab doesn't cost you progress.

Particle Clicker suits anyone who likes idle/incremental games and doesn't mind a slower burn — it's open source, made by a small team of developers rather than a studio, and runs entirely in the browser.
