About Subway Surfers

Subway Surfers is the endless runner that put lane-dodging on rails: you sprint down a live train track, weaving between oncoming trains, signal posts, and barriers while a grumpy inspector and his dog chase you down for tagging the station. There's no finish line — the track keeps generating faster the longer you last, and the whole game is about how far your reflexes can carry you before you clip an obstacle.

The core loop is simple to read and hard to master: you're always moving forward, three lanes wide, picking a line through trains, low barriers, and overhead beams while scooping up coins along the way. Power-ups drop into the run to change your options for a few seconds — a jetpack lifts you above the track to auto-collect coins, sneakers give you a higher jump, a coin magnet pulls nearby coins in, and a hoverboard absorbs one crash that would otherwise end the run. Coins earned during runs (plus keys, the premium currency) unlock new playable characters and hoverboard skins between sessions, but none of that changes how a run actually plays.

Controls

  • Arrow Up — jump
  • Arrow Down — roll / duck under obstacles
  • Arrow Left / Arrow Right — switch to the lane on that side

Tips

  • Decide early which lane you're taking. Late lane-switches into a train are the single most common way to end a run.
  • A jetpack or hoverboard is a good moment to hold your lane and just collect — you can't crash while it's active, so use the breathing room to plan the next stretch.
  • Rolling clears low barriers and lets you slide under some trains' open doors — it's faster than switching lanes to dodge the same obstacle.
  • Coin runs matter more than survival time alone if you're saving for a character — staying in a coin-heavy lane is sometimes worth more than the longest possible run.

It's a pick-up-and-play game suited to short sessions — a couple of minutes at a time is enough to chase a new high score.

Subway Surfers FAQ

How do you play Subway Surfers?
Use the arrow keys to move: up jumps, down rolls under obstacles, and left/right switch lanes. The goal is to dodge trains and barriers for as long as possible while collecting coins.
What do the power-ups do?
The jetpack lifts you off the track and auto-collects coins, sneakers give a higher jump, the coin magnet pulls in nearby coins, and the hoverboard lets you survive one crash before it breaks.
Is there a way to win or does the run just end?
There's no ending — it's an endless runner, so the run continues until you hit an obstacle or train. The aim is to beat your own best score.
What are the coins used for?
Coins collected during runs go toward unlocking new playable characters and hoverboard skins, though they don't change how the run itself plays.
