8 Ball Pool is a competitive online multiplayer billiards game where you face off against players from around the world in 1-on-1 matches. Developed by Miniclip, it brings the classic pub game to your browser with realistic physics and a progression system built around stakes and skill.
You start in the beginner-friendly London pub and work your way up to high-roller tables in cities like Tokyo, Las Vegas, and Jakarta. Each match requires an entry fee in coins, and the winner takes the entire pot. As you win, you'll earn enough to buy new cues with better stats and enter higher-tier matches, but be careful—losing a high-stakes game can wipe out your hard-earned bankroll.
Controls
- Aim: Move your mouse or drag to rotate your cue stick around the cue ball. The guideline will show you the predicted path of the object ball.
- Spin: Click the cue ball icon to apply top, back, or side spin (english) to control where the white ball stops after the shot.
- Shoot: Click and drag the power meter backwards, then release to strike the ball.
Tips for Winning
- Control the cue ball: Potting a ball is only half the job. Always think about where the white ball will land next. Use backspin to stop it dead or topspin to follow the object ball.
- Watch the timer: You only have a limited amount of time to take your shot, indicated by a green ring around your avatar. If it runs out, your opponent gets ball-in-hand.
- Play the odds: If you don't have a clear shot, sometimes the best move is a safety. Hit the ball softly to leave your opponent in a difficult position rather than risking a scratch.
- Manage your bankroll: Never risk all your coins on a single match. If you have 10,000 coins, stick to the 1,000-coin tables until you build a bigger cushion.
