About Age of War

Age of War is a classic base defense tug-of-war where two civilizations clash across time. You start with a caveman base, spawning club-wielding warriors and slingshot rock throwers to hold the line against an advancing enemy. As your units clash in the middle of the battlefield, every kill earns you gold to spawn more troops or build base turrets, and experience points (XP) that bring you closer to evolving into the next historical era.

The core loop is a delicate balance of spending gold to survive the current wave versus saving up to buy permanent turret defenses. If you earn enough XP, you can evolve your entire civilization—moving from the Stone Age to the Castle, Renaissance, Modern, and eventually Future Age. Upgrading gives you access to stronger units like knights, tanks, and mech robots, completely changing the dynamic of the battlefield as you march toward destroying the enemy's base.

Controls

Age of War is played entirely with the mouse. Click the icons at the top right of the screen to train units, build turrets, or evolve your age. You can also click to unleash your special attack when the timer is ready.

Tips for Winning

  • Don't overspend early: Evolving to the Castle Age as fast as possible gives you a huge advantage. Spamming cheap clubmen early is often enough to hold the line while you build up XP.
  • Turrets are permanent: Spending gold on turrets instead of infantry early on provides lasting defense and frees up your economy for stronger units later.
  • Save your special attack: Each age has a unique special attack that takes a long time to recharge (like a meteor shower). Save it for when a massive enemy wave is about to reach your base.
  • Evolve defensively: When your base is taking heavy damage and looks like it's about to be destroyed, evolving to the next age will instantly add maximum health points to your base, giving you a second wind.
