BitLife is a text-based life simulation where every choice you make shapes a character's journey from birth to death. Presented as a series of yearly decisions and random events, you start as an infant with basic stats like happiness, health, smarts, and looks. As you age up year by year, the paths you can take expand drastically, letting you steer your character toward immense success, a quiet ordinary life, or total chaos.
A typical session is fast-paced, driven by simple menus and text prompts. One moment you might be deciding what to study in university, and the next you are dealing with a sudden illness or a bizarre encounter at work. Because the interface is entirely text and menus, the focus stays on the narrative you're building, making every playthrough distinct and highly replayable.
Controls
The entire game is played using your mouse or touchscreen. Click or tap the large 'Age' button to advance a year, and use the various menus at the bottom of the screen to interact with your jobs, relationships, and activities.
Tips
- Check your stats constantly: Low happiness can lead to depression, and low health can end a run early. Activities like going to the gym or meditating are easy ways to keep these bars filled.
- Study hard early on: Pushing your character to study harder in primary and secondary school boosts your smarts, opening the door to lucrative scholarships and high-paying careers like medicine or law.
- Spend time with family: Relationships deteriorate over time if ignored. Use the 'Spend time with all' option regularly to keep your parents and siblings happy.
