Cars Thief drops you directly into a chaotic urban sandbox where your only objective is to commandeer any vehicle you can find. Acting as a lightweight tribute to classic open-world crime games, it removes the long story missions and focuses entirely on the thrill of the chase. You roam the city streets on foot until you spot a ride you like, punch your way into the driver's seat, and speed off before the authorities catch up to you.
The city is a playground filled with pedestrians, traffic, and wide roads perfectly suited for reckless driving. Every time you steal a vehicle or cause property damage, the police will be alerted and begin their pursuit. Because there is no overarching narrative to tie you down, the session is purely about seeing how much mayhem you can survive and how many different vehicles—from compact cars to heavy motorcycles—you can take for a spin.
Controls
- W, A, S, D or Arrow Keys to move your character and steer vehicles.
- Spacebar to jump while on foot or use the handbrake while driving.
- F or Enter to enter or exit a vehicle.
- Shift to run faster on foot.
Tips
- You can steal a vehicle even while it is moving. Just run up to the driver's side door and press the enter button to pull them out.
- Motorcycles are incredibly fast and nimble for escaping the police, but they offer zero protection if you crash into a wall at top speed.
- If you attract too much police attention, ditching your current ride and stealing a new one is often the fastest way to lose the heat.
