Fireboy and Watergirl 3: The Ice Temple is the third chapter in the cooperative puzzle-platformer series by Oslo Albet. In this adventure, our two elemental heroes explore a frozen, ancient sanctuary filled with unique ice-themed puzzles. Whether playing with a friend or controlling both characters solo, your task is to guide them safely to their respective exit doors across 32 stages of increasing difficulty.
The core challenges revolve around the opposing natures of fire and water. Fireboy must steer clear of water pools, and Watergirl must avoid lava pits, while both need to steer clear of toxic green mud. To succeed, you will have to operate levers, push heavy blocks, redirect light beams, and coordinate every single movement carefully.
Controls
- Fireboy: Move with the Arrow keys (Left/Right to walk, Up Arrow to jump).
- Watergirl: Move with the WASD keys (A/D to walk, W to jump).
You can play cooperatively with a friend on the same keyboard, or play solo by controlling both characters simultaneously or alternating between them.
The Ice Temple Mechanics
This installment introduces special ice and snow rules that affect Fireboy and Watergirl differently:
- Fireboy's Ice Physics: Fireboy slides very fast on icy floors. However, he cannot climb up icy slopes.
- Watergirl's Ice Physics: Watergirl moves slowly on ice, but she can walk up icy slopes.
- Jumping Restrictions: Neither character can jump while standing directly on an icy surface. You must find a patch of normal ground or snow to gain footing.
- Light Beams: Direct colored light beams onto mirrors and sensors to melt ice blocks into water or freeze water back into ice. Always make sure Fireboy is clear of water before melting ice!
Tips for Success
- Analyze the Path First: Before moving, examine the level to see where buttons, doors, and pits are located. Planning your moves prevents running into a fatal trap.
- Leverage Sliding Momentum: Use Fireboy's high-speed slide on flat ice to clear wide gaps that would otherwise be impossible to cross.
- Coordinate Switches: Often, one character must stand on a pressure plate or hold a lever to keep a gate open for the . Patience and synchronization are essential.
