The second installment of the classic elemental platformer series introduces a brilliant new mechanic: light manipulation. Oslo Albet's cooperative puzzle game takes the dual-character formula established in the Forest Temple and adds complex optical challenges. Players must direct beams of light across multiple chambers using rotatable mirrors and heavy boxes to trigger sensors, open doors, and activate elevators.
Controlling Fireboy and Watergirl remains a delicate balancing act. Fireboy can walk safely through lava but turns to ash in water, while Watergirl glides through pools but evaporates in fire. Both characters must avoid the deadly green acid pits. Because the characters share a screen and must frequently hold doors open for one another, the game demands constant communication if playing with a friend, or split-brain coordination if tackling it solo.
Controls
- Fireboy: Move and jump using the Arrow Keys.
- Watergirl: Move and jump using W, A, S, and D.
Tips
- Align mirrors before moving: The light beams can activate traps as well as doors. Take a moment to trace the path of the light and adjust your mirrors before you step on the switch that turns the beam on.
- Jump off heads: Some jumps require a little extra height. You can safely jump onto your partner's head to reach higher ledges or grab difficult gems.
- Use boxes as shields: The pushable stone blocks don't just hold down switches. They can block dangerous light beams that might otherwise fry one of the characters.
