Five Nights at Freddy's 4 completely changes the rules of the franchise by moving the terror from a security office into a childhood bedroom. Instead of managing cameras and limited power, you play as a vulnerable child who must survive the night armed with nothing but a flashlight. The nightmare animatronics are hidden in the shadows, waiting for you to make a single mistake.
The experience relies entirely on intense audio cues. Every time you approach a door, you must listen carefully for the sounds of breathing before using your light. Acting too quickly or failing to check the bed behind you will result in a terrifying jump scare. This minimalist approach creates a deeply unsettling atmosphere that forces you to stay completely focused on the dark hallways.
Controls
- Mouse: Look around the room and click to move to the left door, right door, closet, or bed.
- Shift: Hold to close the door when you hear breathing.
- Ctrl: Use the flashlight to check the hallway or clear the bed.
Tips for Surviving the Night
- Listen Before You Flash: When you arrive at a door, wait a few seconds in silence. If you hear raspy breathing, immediately close the door. If you flash the light while they are there, the game will end instantly.
- Check Your Bed Constantly: Small Freddles will accumulate on the bed behind you over time. You must turn around and flash your light to scatter them before they summon Nightmare Freddy.
- Keep Foxy Contained: Once Nightmare Foxy enters the closet, check on him frequently. Flash the light in the closet and shut the door until he returns to a plush toy state.
FNAF 4 offers one of the most intense and stressful horror experiences available. With no monitors to hide behind, it challenges your reflexes and nerve in an incredibly direct way.
