Frogger Game

Frogger is one of the most celebrated icons of the golden age of arcade gaming. Originally developed by Konami in 1981, this simple yet deceptively challenging title tasks players with guiding a small, vulnerable frog to safety. You start at the bottom of the screen and must make your way to the lily pads at the very top, navigating two distinct and highly dangerous zones along the way.

The first half of the journey requires dodging speeding cars, trucks, and bulldozers across a busy multi-lane highway. Once across the road, the frog must cross a rushing river by hopping onto the backs of floating logs and swimming turtles. With a ticking timer forcing quick decisions, every hop requires perfect timing to avoid traffic, drowning, or falling prey to hungry river predators.

Controls

The controls in Frogger are simple and responsive, allowing for quick grid-based movements in four directions:

• Arrow Keys: Press Up, Down, Left, or Right to hop the frog one space in that direction.
• W, A, S, D Keys: Use as an alternative keyboard layout to move forward (W), left (A), backward (S), or right (D).

Tips

• Watch turtle behaviors: Some turtles will periodically submerge under the water. Avoid staying on turtles for too long, and watch for their color changing or bubbles showing they are about to dive.
• Use the whole screen: Don't just hop straight up. Moving horizontally along logs or the highway can help you find safer gaps and align perfectly with open lily pads.
• Collect bonus items: Look out for lady frogs floating on logs or flies landing on the lily pads. Hopping onto them before entering a home base provides a significant score boost.
• Pace your movements: While the timer is ticking, rushing is the easiest way to make a mistake. Take a moment to read the traffic patterns before stepping onto the asphalt.
