Refuge Solitaire Game

Refuge Solitaire is an intriguing and highly strategic double-deck patience card game that offers a unique twist on classic solitaire layouts. Using two full decks of 104 cards, your objective is to move all cards from the outer tableau piles into eight central foundation piles. The foundations are split evenly: four piles start with Aces and build upward to Kings, while the four start with Kings and build downward to Aces.

The layout features sixteen tableau columns arranged in a crescent-like shape around the foundations, with only the top card of each stack visible. Unlike traditional solitaire variants, cards can be moved within the tableau if they share the same suit and are one rank higher or lower than the target card. This bidirectional building rule, combined with limited reshuffles, creates a deeply tactical puzzle where every card movement requires careful calculation.

Controls

• Select Card: Click or tap on the top card of any tableau stack to pick it up.
• Move Card: Click or tap on the target tableau pile or foundation pile to place the selected card.
• Reshuffle/Stock: Click the central deck or reshuffle button on the screen to draw new cards or reorganize the tableau when no moves are left.

Tips

• Expose Hidden Cards: Focus on emptying or thinning out the larger tableau stacks early. Revealing hidden cards gives you more options and prevents columns from getting locked.
• Use Empty Spaces Strategically: Creating an empty tableau space is a massive advantage. You can place any card in an empty column, which helps you park problematic cards and reorganize sequences.
• Control Foundation Progression: Build both ascending (Ace to King) and descending (King to Ace) foundations at a similar pace. If one goes too far ahead, it can trap middle-value cards that you need to clear the tableau.
• Save Your Reshuffles: Reshuffles are limited and typically move the bottom cards of the stacks to the top. Only use them when you are completely out of moves.
