Snail Bob 6: Winter Story is the sixth entry in Hunter Hamster's long-running Snail Bob series, and this time it's a rescue mission: help Bob save his grandpa's Christmas by getting him through a run of frozen, gadget-filled levels in one piece. He never stops moving on his own, so your job is to clear the way in front of him rather than steer him directly.
Bob rolls forward automatically along a fixed path in every level, which turns each stage into a short, held-breath puzzle rather than a reflex test. Spot a spike trap, a saw blade or a gap a beat too late and he walks straight into it, so most of a session is spent reading the machinery ahead before you touch anything.
Controls
Everything is mouse-only. Click Bob to stop him or pull him into his shell for a moment of safety, then click him again to send him moving. Click switches, levers, gears and machinery in the environment to open his path forward.
Tips
- Scan the level before clicking anything — most deaths come from triggering a switch before you've worked out what it actually does.
- Pull Bob into his shell right before he reaches a hazard like a falling icicle or spinning blade; the shell blocks damage he can't simply walk past.
- Each level hides three stars that usually sit off the direct route to the exit. They're optional, so a dedicated second pass is the easiest way to grab them all.
It suits a slower, thinky session better than a fast arcade one — patient puzzle players will get more out of it than anyone chasing quick reflex action.
