About Stick Defenders

Stick Defenders puts you in charge of a base under constant attack by relentless waves of stick-figure enemies. As the commander, your job is to recruit basic gunners and merge them together to create increasingly powerful soldiers. The game blends the idle satisfaction of watching your army automatically gun down foes with the active strategy of managing your board space and economy.

Every session requires a balance between spending your coins on new recruits and saving up for permanent upgrades. The further you survive, the tougher the enemies become, forcing you to constantly combine your troops to keep up with the rising difficulty. Watching your simple pistol-wielding recruits eventually evolve into a squad armed with miniguns and elemental weapons makes every run rewarding.

Controls

The game is entirely controlled with the mouse:

  • Left Click: Buy new recruits and activate special abilities or upgrades.
  • Click and Drag: Pick up a unit and drop it onto an identical one to merge them. You can also drag units to different positions on your defensive wall to optimize their firing range.

Tips

  • Don't merge everything immediately: Two lower-tier units sometimes deal more combined damage than one newly merged unit. Only merge when you run out of board space or need a specific upgrade for a boss wave.
  • Focus your firepower: Place your highest-tier, longest-range units near the center of the wall so they can shoot at enemies approaching from any lane.
  • Upgrade the base damage early: Buying the global damage upgrade makes your basic recruits much more effective, allowing you to survive the first few waves without having to merge constantly.

Stick Defenders is perfect for short sessions, giving you the immediate gratification of quick progress while still offering deep upgrade paths for longer playthroughs.

Stick Defenders FAQ

How do you get better weapons in Stick Defenders?
You earn better weapons by dragging and dropping two identical stickman units together. Merging two pistol units creates a stronger defender, and continuing this process unlocks advanced weapons like miniguns and rocket launchers.
What is the best way to spend coins?
In the early stages, prioritize upgrading your damage output and lowering your recruit cost. This allows you to build a larger army faster and survive the initial boss waves more easily.
How do boss battles work?
Every few waves, a heavily armored boss enemy will spawn. You will need high-tier merged units and possibly temporary boosts from your special abilities to defeat them before they break through your wall.
